To scan a nav beacon you don’t actually need to use any scanner. Sometimes the nav does not show when you jump to a system. What kind of satellite are you looking for? There's a few real satellites like the Voyager or New Horizons in Sol, but the vast majority of them are just Tourist Beacons that can be found using your Navigation Panel after scanning the system with the Nav Beacon. Once the scan completes, you get a message saying that you're done there, and ya head off to the next destination and do the same thing. Many thanks to Cmdr Jorn Raido for creating the channel logo.
